Wester-style diners in Yokohama…
Since about 5 years ago, we live in Yokohama Chinatown, located in Naka ward, Yokohama.
We do not have kids. Instead, we have two cats. When we were looking for a place to live,
one of our requirements was that it had to have a lot of sunlight for them,
and before we even realized so, we had found a place and were living here.
Downstairs, the largest china town of Japan spreads out…..
Sometimes, this area becomes somewhat of a lawless district,
but it seems to be comfortable for our cats,
and as a proof their fur has become much richer than it was before.
This area is also a historically important place in the Japanese modernization,
and it is marked with traces of history here and there around the town.
Also, there are many long-established Wester-style diners,
so we often come across the kind of Western-style menu that our generation used to idealize as kids.
Those meals really match beer, which means that the amount of beer that
I drink has definitely increased since we live here.
The meals I request my wife to make at home also lean towards a
Western-style menu since we started living in Yokohama,
such as pasta with Neapolitan sauce, Omuraisu (an omelette filled with fried chicken rice) or Gratins,
so the number of beer cans we open at our place is continuously growing.
This last year I have become completely addicted to my wife’s special Neapolitan.
She always uses linguine for the noodles in this dish.
