In Yokohama Yamate, ROCHE
It has become a lot more like Spring lately, so yesterday, I took a walk,
and went to the famous restaurant in front of
The Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery in Yokohama Yamate, Yamate “ROCHE”.
Apparently it has been in operation here since 1967!!.
From the atmosphere emanating from its interiors, I can feel its long history.
When in Yokohama : Yamate, Kirin Beer is a must.
Because Yokohama Yamate is the birthplace of Kirin Beer.
The taste of Kirin Beer when partaken in its hometown… is so exceptional.
And then I received the menu…
ROCHE’s very famous hamburg steak, is quite honestly delicious!!
A firm, consistent patty,
topped with a smooth, yet rich demiglace sauce which flows throughout the palate.
One taste is all it takes to understand how much time and effort went into creating this sauce.
And then… here is the “very definition of omelet rice!!”
This dish is certainly the standard of omelet rice.
Especially for those born in the 1960s, this flavor will really seep into your soul…
This area is dotted with several famous Western-style buildings, beginning with
The Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery, located in front of ROCHE.
If you walk a bit towards the port, there you’ll find the famous Yokohama tourist spot,
Bay View Park : “Minato No Mieru Oka Kouen”.
I believe you’ll be able to fully enjoy the image of a post-Meiji era Yokohama, adorned in Western culture.
* The photograph was taken at the beautiful spanish style building, “Berrick hall”.
By all means, please come and visit Yokohama!!!
